About

Andrea is a young artist whose works are visually silent, fragile and seemingly peaceful. Many of her works are heavily laden with her personal life experiences and how she perceives the world around her. She has a strong interest and love for printmaking and drawing with a distinct preference for fine, detailed work and an attraction to subtlety and overlooked. Andrea works mainly with 2D works, especially with relief block prints and drawings. She is also well adapted to using pencils, fine-liner markers and charcoal as the go-to mediums for her drawings.

Andrea is always open to working with new ideas and different materials as she enjoys exploring and learning new things, considering them to be valuable learning opportunities. Documentaries have greatly influenced her works in addressing and bringing awareness to conservation and social issues. She also expresses great interest in the areas of psychology, especially in clinical psychology and mental illnesses in recent years.

About

Artist Statement

The natural environment and mental health and illness are the main influences for my works. For me, I create works as a form of personal, emotional expression, meditation and reflection. It is also through my works that I hope to raise awareness for varying issues, to spark conversation and actions for change and/or preservation.

Through my works, I try my best to capture and recreate images in my own style with an inclination to realism and abstraction, as I feel that each experience is unique, and staying true to that experience is important in evoking emotion. I draw visual inspiration from the world around me, and my concepts are mostly based on my own lived experiences. My works will always represent a part of me, and I focus heavily on the creation process, using my art as a channel to communicate about things that I am not so openly vocal about, or things that I am interested in and consider personal to me.
